What is Wine To Water?

About the cause: Doc Hendley dreamed up the concept of Wine To Water while bartending and playing music in nightclubs around Raleigh, NC. In February 2004, Doc held his first fundraiser and by August, he was living halfway around the globe in Sudan installing water systems for victims of government-supported genocide. His life, and the over one million lives he’s helped, would never be the same.

After spending one year in Darfur, Doc returned home. The haunting memories of what he had witnessed drove him to continue building the organization he started with that first fundraiser in a bar. Doc was determined to provide clean water for the world.

In 2007, after working two jobs and volunteering his time for three years, Doc launched Wine To Water. His dream of fighting the world’s water crisis became a reality. But that was just the beginning. Today, Wine to Water has given clean water to over 1,000,000 people.

About the event: The need for access to clean water, basic sanitation, and hygiene resources continues. So we’re building filters! Each participant will build a filter that provides clean water to ten people for ten years. The filter is then mailed to the areas that need clean water the most. We mail the entire experience to your home, office, or venue of choice. How It Works

WeHero events are designed to be easy while maximizing impact.

1. How Many Employees?

Select how many employees you would like to have participate in your Wine To Water event.

2. Event Preparation

After placing your order, your dedicated event manager reaches out to introduce themselves and confirm the timing and details of the experience.

3. We Box It Up

Working with our non-profit partners we source all the necessary materials and activities, add easy-to-follow instructions, box it up, and ship it to your employees’ homes or a venue of your choice.

4. Have Your Event

We host a live event via Zoom or a preferred web conferencing system. Don’t worry, it’s easy and our team is always available for support.

5. Send It Back

We provide pre-paid shipping labels and boxes to make shipping everything back easy. Once the event is over, we send a thank you email to your team detailing the impact as well as ways to continue supporting the cause.

WeHero offsets the carbon on every shipment for your volunteer experience. We also use recycled materials, compostable bags, and algae-based inks as much as possible.

What does your event come with?

  • Dedicated Event Coordinator
    After booking your event, you are assigned a WeHero event coordinator to support you with all items related to your event. We’re here to make sure your event is perfect!
  • Live Event
    We host a live event for your team as well as detailed instructions to have the perfect event!
  • Water Filter Supplies
    Each event contains all the materials to build a water filter that will last 10 years in the field. These supplies are very specific, durable, and built to provide clean water.
  • Pre-paid Shipping Labels
    Shipping is easy! Attach the pre-paid shipping labels and USPS will pick your package up at a day and time that works best for you.
  • International Delivery and Tracking
    Step one is getting the filters to the non-profit. Step two… getting the filters shipped internationally, delivered in the field, and confirmed that they are operating.
  • Water Tracking and Impact Reporting
    Every year, Wine To Water has specialists in the field, measuring the data, and ensuring the filtration devices are working. We send a thank you email with details on the impact your team created!

Am I able to call or email WeHero leading up to the event?

Yes! Our team is here and available to make sure your event is awesome. You’ll find we touch base regularly to make sure all goes smoothly.

Can a WeHero event work for a large group of employees?

Absolutely. These events can scale with the size of your group.

How do I go about getting budget for something like this?

Do I need to handle any of the shipping and is it an extra cost?

There is no additional charge for shipping. WeHero handles all of the shipping including having USPS pick up the completed kits from your employees’ home or office when your event is complete.
