We're making activated charcoal soap for wildland firefighters

About the cause: In high temperatures and steep terrain, wildland firefighters dig lines around raging fires, for up to 16 hours a day. They help save the land and protect our communities.

About the event: Learn about the history of wildfires, how climate change is stoking the flame, and how wildland firefighters are saving the day. Volunteers will handcraft bars of soap with activated charcoal and send them to the firefighters, along with words of gratitude.

Join us for this virtual event as we learn about the people who battle the blaze, make an impact, and connect over a fun activity at home!

The Grassroots Wildland Firefighter Committee is dedicated to promoting and advocating for Federal Wildland Fire personnel titled Forestry Technicians and Range Technicians.

Our mission is to advocate for proper classification, pay, benefits, and comprehensive well-being. Our mission is to educate the public, generate support and provide solutions to our federal representatives through policy reform.

Be a Waste Warrior

We build our volunteer events to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Whether it is offsetting the carbon emissions of the shipping process, using recycled cardboard for the boxes, or relying on algae-based dyes, we’ve made conscious steps to ensure we’re doing right for our world.

However, it’s impossible for us to completely eliminate waste products from the experience. To ensure we limit the impact of these materials, we ask that all participants properly recycle and dispose of the materials they receive.
