About the cause: For most of us, winter means holidays, family gatherings, and gift-giving. But for people experiencing homelessness, winter is a brutal challenge. The cold weather makes life on the streets even more dangerous than usual, and a societal focus on togetherness and holiday cheer can create a sense of even greater isolation. WeHero and nonprofits are working hard to help provide solutions.

About the event: Learn about the challenges experienced by individuals who are houseless and crochet a 7″ x 9″ rectangle to be a part of something bigger – blankets for those in need! These squares will be coming from Synchrony teams across the globe to make blankets of care.

If you are attending a WeHero live event with your team, we will cover all of these instructions during the event! These instructions can act as a resource for you before or after the event.

Creating your Care Squares!

Step 1: Time to crochet!

We’ve provided two balls of yarn, a crochet hook, a ruler, and a needle for you to make your square. When watching the tutorial above, try your best to make your piece as square as possible and shoot for 7 to 9 inches in length and width. After you use your first ball of yarn, tie the end of your first square to your second ball of yarn and keep crocheting. Don’t worry, your square doesn’t have to be perfect!
Step 2: Name Tag

Using the provided hang tag, write your name and a note of encouragement if you have room. Attach the hang tag to your completed square!
Step 3: Re-box and apply the shipping label

Using the return envelope, add your completed square. Attach the prepaid shipping label and schedule your USPS pickup. You can also drop your box off at your local post office. To schedule your pickup, simply use the following link and follow the steps: weherolabs.com/pick-up/

Note: If the system asks for weight, you can enter 1 pound and the shipping provider will update the weight automatically.
