Top 4 Tips for Global Volunteering
While companies are recognizing the importance of addressing their corporate social responsibility, many professionals and executives are left with the daunting task of designing a CSR program from scratch. Stakeholders are eager to see the impact these programs have on the company as a whole, the employees, and the community at large.
In our recent WeHero Learn video, Vanessa Davis, Employee Engagement and Corporate Social Responsibility at Octo, broke down the process of launching a CSR program into three simple steps.
1. Create Annual Goals
Narrowing down your annual goals to show the impact your new program will have on the company, employees, and the overall community is the perfect starting point for creating a program of value. Make sure to include key data points that prove volunteer efforts are worth the investment!
2. Involve stakeholders and employees at all levels
Getting people from all levels of the business involved in the planning process allows for all voices to be heard and more buy-in from your fellow colleagues. Many companies run CSR programs with one person spearheading the project and others volunteering their time on a committee. Having a committee of employees from various departments and locations allows for a wide range of expertise and shows the executives that the employees desire the opportunity to give back.
3. Ensure the Impact
Once all the details have been ironed out, the final step is to pitch the program to your executive team. This step is simple, just lead them to say yes by showing them all the good that comes from giving back!
