Disaster Relief Response
With wildfires destroying millions of acres on a daily basis and the Haiti earthquake all occurring within the last few weeks, companies are asking us how they should respond. We may not have all the answers, but we made a WeHero Learn video about how companies and their employees can respond to natural disasters and get involved to give back.
While we understand the motivation behind wanting to respond to natural disasters immediately, we urge companies to think deeply about the ways in which they would like to support. To make this process simple, we suggest:
- Decide whether your company is looking to offer immediate short term solutions or long term support.
- Research non-profits that are involved in supporting the cause and ensure they are meeting the needs of the people they are helping.
- Determine whether your company would like to support through fundraising, volunteering, or both.
- Involve your employees! They are passionate about these causes and wanting to be a part of the solution.

Regions in Need of Support
The West Coast of the US
2.5 million acres burned on the West Coast this year so far– a record-breaking figure with two months left in fire season. Due to the current situation, WeHero has developed volunteer initiatives for companies to support firefighters and to provide long term impact through disaster relief and reforestation.
The Country of Haiti
After spending years rebuilding following the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the country was hit with a 7.2 earthquake last Saturday. As a result, the people of Haiti are displaced and in need of assistance. WeHero is working on partnering with the best non-profits that will deliver long-term impact on the ground in Haiti.
Here’s to making an impact!
Our mission is to give 10,000,000 people the tools to give and volunteer easily and effectively to make the greatest social impact possible. We’re incredibly excited to work with the brands and people driving to create positive change especially during times of need. We thank all of you that continue to work with WeHero to make these programs possible and support these disaster relief initiatives!
